Pedal power generates funds
Cycling for a cause: Some of the participants in this year's
CanTeen Bike Bash.
Pedal power has proved its
worth generating more than
$4500 for young people liv-
ing with cancer.
Nineteen teams took part
in the second annual Can-
Teen Bike Bash, held at
Whangarei s Town Basin.
The challenge involves
teams of six cycling on a
spin bike for an hour each.
Organiser Leeann Mor-
gan says it was a fantastic
day with all funds raised
staying in Northland.
Teams competing were
from Apata, Activ8, North-
land Regional Council (two
teams), Kawakawa RPM,
Smartfitness Waipu (two
teams), Toll United,
Whangarei District Council,
Harrison s Carpets, Team
Bandanna from Parua Bay,
Schnappa Rock, Regency
Pies, a staff team from
Whangarei Boys High
School and four student
teams from the school.
We also had hire bikes
for people in the audience
just to jump on and cycle
and Fiona Southorn a
Whangarei gold medal win-
ning Paralympian also
cycled along, Ms Morgan
