WHANGAREI LEADER, JANUARY 18, 2011
75 years young: Aileen Hill cuts the cake for CCS Disability
Action as it celebrates the milestone of its 75th birthday. Aileen
was supported by the service, then known as the Crippled
Children Society, when she was a child. The organisation now
helps with advocacy, has a role in accessible housing and helps
people with disabilities get into work.
New harbourmaster: Opua-
based Jim Lyle is Northland's
new regional harbourmaster.
Mr Lyle, 45, beat 10 other
applicants -- including one from
the United States -- to secure
the role and replaces former
regional harbourmaster Ian
Niblock who left the Northland
Regional Council last year to
take up a role in Australia.
Mr Lyle joined the regional
council in April 2005 as
harbourmaster and has worked
out of its Opua office since as
both its local harbourmaster
and pilot. He officially took up
his new role 13 December.
