Sun shines on school spring festival The annual school and community Spring Festival celebration for Whangarei Heads School went down a treat with kids and adults alike. Crowds gathered to join in activities such as pony rides and enjoyed watching the local dog obedience group showing their tricks. There was entertainment on stage all day with music groups playing and children performing. The school's principal Lil Ruffell says it was great to see the local volunteer fire brigade's informative demonstration, and the community art shed and community library were buzzing with activity. ''The school is indeed central to the Whangarei Heads community,'' she says. Fabulous food and drinks were available to be enjoyed and numerous craft stalls sold a range of quality goods -- all in all it was an event not to be missed! Whangarei Heads School would like to thank everyone who came along to support the school and children on the day and they look forward to seeing you next year, Ms Ruffell says.
